Photography is my passion, with each photograph I take I try to capture the moment, whether it be funny, happy, sad, dramatic or just a reminder of somewhere I liked being. I enjoy the challenge of photographing something new or trying to capture something I’ve photographed before in a new light or different angle. The beauty and most satisfying thing about photography for me is that every picture is different even if it is a scene I’ve photographed a hundred times and that there’ll always be a better picture waiting to be captured.
I am very fortunate to have had many opportunities to take photographs of a wide range of subjects and events during my 10 years as a serious photographer. I have experience of photographing for print, books, newspapers, web and other printed media and for inclusion in video. I am also versed in a wide range of software and hardware including Photoshop and Paint Shop Pro.
Sports Photography:
I am the Sheffield Sharks basketball team official photographer and have 3 seasons experience photographing the team at a range of venues across the UK. I also have experience of photographing a range of other sports including Goalball where I was the only official photographer for the 2010 World Championships and the only photographer to cover all days of the competition, wheelchair rugby, Motor X and Multisport events.
Band Photography:
One of the most rewarding types of photography, I have varied experience working with local Sheffield bands including The Carnival, Little Vegas and Sour Mash. I have worked in a wide range of venues in the city from compact pubs to the cities larger venues.
Aviation Photography:
I have over 15 years air show experience as well as low level, fly past and other experience photographing a wide range of aircraft including the 65th anniversary of the Dambusters of which my work is now displayed in the Dambusters museum at Derwent in Derbyshire.
Wedding Photography:
During my time as a photographer I have covered many weddings, however I have now decided to not to photograph weddings any longer as the main photographer. I will however consider being a second shooter at weddings to help capture the day.
Portrait Photography:
I really enjoy trying to capture a person’s personality through my images. I have experience of both studio and informal/candid portrait shoots with all ages and have my own portable studio lighting equipment.
Animal Photography:
Probably the most rewarding type of photography for me is photographing animals, usually in wildlife parks but also in the country or in my own back garden. I have a wide selection of different animals in my image collection and enjoy the challenge of trying to capture something different.
Landscape and Panorama:
I enjoy trying to capture the bigger picture where often just a single wide angle shot isn’t enough. I love being out with the camera and am equally at home with city or country scapes.
Anything Else:
I enjoy nothing more than taking a great photograph, I’m often found a different events, camera in hand capturing re-enactors, flowers, cars, boats… anything really especially if I haven’t photographed anything like it before.
